Do you sometimes feel as if you can’t really talk to your family or friends about your dream job at all? Working on your own to find that amazing job opportunity you dream about can make you experience loneliness, sadness or frustration when things are not going well. It is very natural that you want to try to do things on your own and be independent, become the winner. However … have you considered that working within a group of like-minded people with the same goal can make it a lot more fun and easier for you?

Can you imagine how much easier and more fun could your job search be if you worked with someone who is looking to achieve the same? There is an African proverb which says “If you want to walk fast, walk alone. If you want to walk far, walk together.” Achieving things on your own can be satisfying, but there is even bigger fulfilment in being a part of a community, where supporting each other can cause amazing results, not just for yourself but others too. Could this be your time to build your community of peers, inspired career changemakers who can support you while working on your goal? Successful changemakers are waiting for you to find them.
Step #28 coffee break exercise:
Think about your dream job and people that you know. List the names of 2 people who you feel comfortable to talk about your dream job, your job search and who can support you.- Now imagine that you could build a community of at least 5 people to help you find your dream job:
- where could you meet these people?
- what can they help you with?
- what difference would having a supportive community make to you?.
- Start building your community today. Remember to ask for help if you need it. Supporting each other with your friend or partner will make it easier and more fun.

This is such great advice! I listened to my family and everyone around me when I went to college. I ended up graduating with a degree in a field that really didn’t interest me. All of this is because I felt so much pressure. Never again!
