“A goal without a plan and action is just a dream.”

Congratulations! Well done, you! I am very excited that you reading this post right now. If you have completed most of the 30 coffee break exercises, you have a good picture about your dream job and what you are looking for. If you have skipped a few steps, read through this post and feel free to do today’s exercise, but do consider going back and catch up with those that you have not done. And if you are new to this blog and this is the very first post you are reading, you will find a link to the beginning of these series at the bottom. Today is about moving forward. Do not leave your success to destiny. Have a plan.

“Don’t make just a plan. Make an inspiring and workable plan. The one that you feel committed to follow.

Not everyone likes to plan. What is your relationship with planning in general? Do you have a plan for everything because you like being in control and want to make things happen? Or perhaps you love your freedom and think that having a plan would take away the element of adventure or freedom?  I would like to introduce you the idea of an inspiring and workable plan. What is it? It’s a plan that prepares you to deal with your concerns, that supports you in completing your actions but is flexible enough to accommodate your desire for adventure and space for unplanned things and activities

Step #30 coffee break exercise:

  • Blog pictureThink about your dream job. List down 3 biggest concerns and challenges that you face.
  • Now imagine how could you deal with these concerns successfully? How could you overcome these challenges? List at least 2 possible solutions for each problem (6 in total).
  • Let’s turn these into actions with an inspiring plan for next 30 days:
    • work through step-by-step, week by week
    • assign first 3 weeks to working through these challenges.
    • 1 challenge each week. Diarise 2 actions that you can take between Monday to Sunday on the days when you are most likely to complete these.

Follow your actions through each week, leaving your last week for completion of unexpected to do things. Remember to keep your plan workable.

How to make planning more fun?

Share your plan with someone you know and trust, your best buddy. Invite them to become your accountability partner. Schedule in regular calls where you can share your progress, your celebrations and challenges. Invite your buddy to stay non-judgmental, ask for listening and support.
